What is the definition of a kingdom and is it different than a nation?

Acts 1:6 KJV  When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel?

The Jews were expecting a messiah to restore the kingdom to Israel.

#1 What is the definition of a kingdom and is it different than a nation?

#2  Throughout its biblical existence Israel paid tributes to overlords.

#3  Israel was a vassal, of the African (Pharoahs) of Masaram, Thebes, possibly Kush, Assyria, Babylon, Persia, Greeks Cleopatra's family (Ptolomies), the Seleucids, & the Romans. The only time they were independent was under the rule of the Maccabees, between the old & new testament.

#5 The people of Judea were waiting for the restoration of Judea, Israel but what period of Israel's existence did they wish to be restored?

Extra question! Why was the Lord quiet for 400 years?

There was no temple in Jerusalem until Solomon.
