We are in the book of 1st Kings and when studying the book of kings we will have to refer to the books of 2chronicles for details that are missing from the book of 1 kings.
CHAPTER ONE
In chapter one we see King David as old and the bible says stricken he could not get warm amd his servants look on the coast of Israel for a female to keep him warm. (Notice the Bible states the coast of Israel/Canaan)!
In the next verses we see one of the oldest living son of David is campaigning to become the king. His name is Adonijah and he is the 3rd born son but the next in line to become king because of the death of his two older brothers, prince Amnon and Absalom.
The scriptures in the video below provides the names of the children of David and their mothers.
Based on this text how many sons did King David have? You can find the names of David’s sons in the book of 1st Chronicles 3: 1-9. When studying the books of Kings the books of Chronicles provide details about the events in the book of Kings.
1st Kings 1:5-10 Adonijah has enlisted the support of his fathers court (advisors and priest etc) however some reject his campaign to become the next king. Adonijah being the oldest son was next inline to become the king but somehow Solomon was appointed by his father David. The details of the appointment of Solomon can be found in Chapter 2 of the book of 1st Kings. Was Adonijah appointed king by the high priest Abiathar?
1st Kings 1:11- 31 Bathsheba (mother of Solomon) and Nathan the prophet conspire to make Solomon the king!
Solomons appointment!
1 Kings 1:32-53 2:1-12 and 2 Chronicles 22
In 2 Samuel 12:24-25 The book of 2 Samuel 7 chapter never mentioned a name for the son of David that would bring peace to Israel, therefore in 1st Chronicles 22:9 did King David tell a lie when he said the Lord said Solomon would be the king who brought peace to Israel?
David gave his son the name Solomon, but Nathan gave Solomon the name Jedidiah because of the Lord. Based on this text it seems Solomons God given name is Jedidiah. In 1Chronicles 17:3-12 or 2nd Samuel 7th chapter the name of Davids' successor
is not given. There is no text that state a message/ word came from the prophet Nathan that provided a name of the son who would build the house for the Lord. The prophet Nathan did tell David that the throne of the successor would be established forever and therefore I believe the prophecy was not for Solomon to become the successor because the throne of Solomon was abolished.
24) David comforted Bathsheba after their first son died and then he gave her another son and he named him Solomon and the Lord loved him but the next text sayd Nathan the prophet name Solomon Jedidiah because of the Lord.
Back to the book of 1Kings 1chapter and 1Chronicles 22 chapter where Jedidiah (Solomon) was appointed as king and he was instructed to deal with David’s enemies! He is told to use wisdom but what does that mean?
In the book of 1 Chronicles 22:8-9 King David said to Solomon that "the word of the Lord came to me saying " Thou hast shed blood abundantly and has made great wars: thou shalt not build an house unto my name, because thou hast shed much blood upon the earth in my sight.
9) Behold a son shall be born to thee who shall be a man of rest: and I will give him rest from all his enemies round about: for his name shall be Solomon, and I will give peace and quietness unto Israel in his days.
Based on my assesment the word Jedidiah is full of powerful symbols and it could be evidence that Solomon aka Jedidiah ruled with power. Was the name Jedidiah or Solomon appointed by the Lord or David? Did The Lord ever speak directly to King David or did he use prophets and seers?
1st Kings Chapter 2
King David commissioned the high priest Sadok to appointed Solomon to rule along with his father and it seems they only ruled together for a brief period. King David to begin preparing King Solomons to carry out his Will according to the wisdom of Solomon!
King David dies and then Solomon aka Jedidiah shows his true colors. Solomon began to carry out his murderous agenda yet Solomon aka Jedidiah was allowed to build a house for the Lord.
